Day 45 July 1st Six Mile Campground, WY to Rawlins, WY.

Tom and his wife and Biscuit came over in the morning before we left to say goodbye.  If you see Biscuit in the picture you might be able to see how I mistook him for a bear earlier that morning.  Once he raised his face up I could see the white and I recovered my voice again.  After the rain storm the 2 mile trip out on the dirt road was easier.  We got back on Highway 250 towards Riverside.  Road resurfacing went on for 12 miles.  The new surface was nice but we did get held up at times.  In Riverside we had snacks out side a small store as we waited for Jaz, our British friend.  At Saratoga the Hobo Hot Springs became our dry out from the big storm.  Tents and ground sheets were wet and muddy.  A few people did get in the hot springs. After a nice lunch, we went north to Walcot.  There we were all in shock to find out we had to go on to Interstate 80 which goes from SF to NY. It had a big shoulder and there was no other way to get to Rawlins so we went.  As three of us riders approached Sinclair we got an emergency warning of severe weather.  We made it to a truck stop.  Bill and Angie were caught on the highway a few miles back. Luckily they flagged down a ride to Rawlins in a pickup within 10 minutes. There was really no other option for them.  We three sat in the truck stop and watched the wind gust at 40 miles per hour, blowing dust everywhere. Rain followed the thunder and lighting.  After 90 minutes we took off for the last 14 miles.  The rain stopped and the wind died down so the ride in was not so bad.  At our hotel the 3 of us were so tired we were in bed very quickly, while Bill and Angie went out for a very nice Thai dinner.
